When the pandemic first broke, there was mass hesitation by boat owners and those in the middle of a build. A number of “what ifs” arose and prospective buyers wondered if spending big on a recreational item was the right choice, some wondered what the market was going to do, some wondered how it would effect their own business and whether they would have funding for upkeep of a prized new toy. After several weeks, however, the market steadied, initial panic dissolved, and a lot of people realized one very important thing – the time is now.
Needless to say, Release Boatworks has been booming, and this is our best year yet. We have a 46’ Walkaround almost out the door for Showtime Fishing Team, which we’re sure will be dominating in tournaments throughout South Florida. In production we also have a 42 Flybridge, two 39’ Walkarounds, A 43’, and another 46’. We have hired more workers and expanded our operation this year like never before, and have more than 12 boats in the works.
Once quarantine set in throughout the U.S., two things became apparent. One- people who had considered building a custom boat for years finally decided it was time to make that dream come true. And two – people were looking for ways to spend time with family outside while social distancing from other people. Boating and fishing may just be the perfect way to do that!
Considering the lack of boat shows this year, which is our usual big method of outreach, we have actually grown greatly through our social media presence and word of mouth throughout the sportfishing community. One thing is for sure; When you build quality boats that revolve around fishing, comfort, beauty, and performance, word gets around.
