THE RELEASE BOATWORKS DESIGN PROCESS

DESIGNED WITH INTENTION. BUILT WITH PRIDE. AND DELIVERED WITH ZERO COMPROMISE.

What Defines a Perfect Sportfishing Boat? Opinions will vary, but most experienced captains will agree that a combination of beautiful, classic lines, superior craftsmanship, speed, a huge and well-thought-out cockpit, and a comfortable layout for the family, combined with a smooth, stable, and dry ride in rough seas, and unsurpassed seaworthiness to any conditions. These attributes describe Release Boatworks boats perfectly.

All Release models feature fishing-friendly designs like low gunwales for the easy handling of billfish beside the boat, a clean wake at trolling speeds, with multiple livewells and fish boxes placed where they make sense, not as an afterthought. The cockpit sole has the perfect amount of camber to drain water to the scuppers quickly, while the tackle center holds enough terminal gear for a week’s worth of charter fishing. Then there’s the expert placement of the fighting chair, icemaker, refrigeration, storage, and engine access, and this is just in the cockpit.

01. The Release Way

WE DON’T BUILD BOATS FOR THE MASSES. WE BUILD FOR THE FEW WHO UNDERSTAND WHAT MATTERS.

The best fishing designs are meaningless unless the boat is simply gorgeous. It’s sometimes difficult to articulate exactly what constitutes a classic look in a fishing boat, but if your description includes things like a traditional curved shear line, tumblehome and sharp entry, a proud bow leading to classic, flowing lines, you’re describing a Release Boatworks vessel.

Everything must fit perfectly and then be finished in a high-gloss shine, reminiscent of the timeless, classic look born on the tuna bank at Cat Cay. It’s the look serious anglers and boating aficionados expect from a custom boatbuilder.

02. The Walkaround Evolution

DISCOVER THE ADVANTAGES OF RELEASE BOATWORKS WALKAROUND DESIGN.

The previous definition of a “walkaround boat” was a fishing boat with a small cabin and 360-degrees of fishability. Some of the boats that have technically fulfilled this definition have lacked hardcore sportfishing cockpits and finer interior accommodations, until now. Release Boatworks pioneered what is now known as a classier “big sister” of the walkaround boats of the past – the walkaround sportfishing boat.

A Release Boatworks walkaround provides the beautiful aesthetics, cockpit, fishing appointments, and range of a custom sportfish with the ease-of-operation, cabin and galley of a family cruiser, existing in a class all its own. From bow to stern, the walkaround sportfish makes it easy to fight a fish regardless of the direction they take, or to handle lines from safely inside the gunnel. The enormous teak cockpit is a fishing platform for the most avid fishing teams, with multiple livewell options (even on the bow!), large fish boxes, endless rod holder configurations, and lots of seating and drink/bait storage on the mezzanine.

Angler intensity in Guatemala.
