55’ Gameboat

Built to Hunt. Born to Run.

The 55 Gameboat is the purest expression of our mission at Release Boatworks: build a boat
that fishes harder, rides smoother, and stands the test of time. No gimmicks. No compromise.
Just a full-fledged battlewagon built to raise fish and take a beating doing it.
She’s not a walkaround. She’s a full-sized convertible with clean lines, a massive cockpit, and a proper flybridge for commanding the spread.

Built on the same proven hull as our 55 Walkaround, she offers the same ride and range, with a traditional gameboat layout below and above. Inside, she’s got the same soul as every Release—smart storage, serious comfort, and layouts that make sense when the bite is hot and the weather’s not. This is a boat designed by fishermen, for fishermen, and built one at a time in New Jersey.

Handbuilt in Jersey.

Like every Release, the 55 Gameboat is built in-house, from the stringers to the final finish. We vacuum-infuse every hull using modified epoxy resin and advanced core materials—no shortcuts, no excuses.

The result is a stronger, lighter boat with better performance, less maintenance, and a build process you can stand behind.

Engine room access is clean and open, with standing headroom and clear outboard access to both engines. Rigging is laid out with service in mind, because we know if it’s not easy to get to, it won’t get done.

Helm stations are laid out with precision—whether you go for a standard console or a full custom dash, everything’s where it should be, with room for multi-screen electronics, controls, and a full suite of tournament tech.

Teak is optional, but never ornamental. Cockpit sole, coaming, helm pod—every detail matters when you’re building a boat that’s going to be judged by what it lands, not just how it looks tied up at the dock

What Makes It a Gameboat?

A Gameboat isn’t just a smaller sportfisher—it’s a different way of thinking. Fewer systems. Faster cleanups. Full focus on the bite. Inspired by the old Merritts and Ryboviches, our Gameboat approach is about simplicity, serviceability, and fishability—without giving up quality. It’s what made boats like this so popular—and why we build every Release Gameboat with the same mindset: all fish, no fluff. She’s not chasing trends. She’s here to start a few of her own.

No Fluff. No Flash. Just Pure Intent.

The 55 Gameboat rides on a time-tested hull with a sharp entry, a rounded keel for a softer ride, and tunneled prop pockets for reduced draft and optimal shaft angle. She’s fast, balanced, and dry, with the kind of feel that makes you want to run her hard and often.

Base power comes from twin MAN V8-1200s, delivering a cruise in the low 30s. Most owners opt for the MTU 10V2000 M96L package—1622 horsepower per side—bringing cruise into the mid-30s and top end into the high 40s. Either way, the ride stays level, confident, and predictable.

Her clean wake, quiet hull, and natural stability make her deadly on the troll. And when it’s time to dance, the cockpit layout gives you everything you need and nothing you don’t. It’s over 150 square feet of wide-open fighting space, with mezzanine seating, integrated refrigeration, deep storage, and options for transom or in-deck livewells.

On the bridge, it’s all business. Centerline helm. Bench seating. Clean visibility. Whether you go with a hardtop or a full tower, you’ve got clear lines to the corners and nothing in your way.

Comfort Where It Counts. Grit Everywhere Else.

The 55 Gameboat isn’t trying to be a floating condo. She’s built for crews who sleep fast and fish hard. But that doesn’t mean we skimp below.

You’ll find a proper galley, full head with walk-in shower, and two staterooms forward—including a full-beam master with legit storage. The salon has a wraparound settee and dinette, plus ample refrigeration and counter space to make coffee, store drinks, or run overnight trips without missing a beat.

Joinery is done in-house with hardwood veneers, clean grain flow, and salt-tough finishes. Lighting, soundproofing, and climate control are all dialed in for real-world use offshore.

It’s comfort born from experience—not excess. Built for the crews who know the bite window doesn’t care how well you slept

Some Boats Catch Fish. Others Become Legends. The 55 Gameboat wasn’t built to check boxes. She was built to check records. Every weld, every line, every joint was put there by someone who’s spent more time offshore than in a boardroom. We don’t chase market share. We chase marlin. And we build boats for people who do the same. She’s not a glossy brochure queen. She’s a future classic—handbuilt with pride, and proven in the places that count. If you want a boat that’s mass-produced and shrink-wrapped in flash, keep walking. If you want a boat that’ll still be fishing hard twenty years from now—This is your weapon.
